Blogging is in my blood. Figuratively. I have been blogging for 5 years and, for a 23 year old, that is not bad. But when Bio Careers gave me an opportunity to blog, it was a pleasant surprise. I have been toying with the idea of doing biotechnology focused blogging for some time now, and this gave me a strong platform.
Briefly, I am a recent MS in Biotechnology graduate from one of Big Ten Universities and currently doing an internship in the field of Reproductive Biology. I have just about 3 years of pure / applied science research under my belt now. The thing about me is that I am a wannabe entrepreneur. I have loved the 3-4 years of research I have done since my undergrad days and never plan on giving up on that part of my career. As a biotech graduate, I think I am in a unique position to share and even collect comments with the widely experienced and varied people of different life science backgrounds on Bio Careers and elsewhere about my ongoing foray in this field.
What possible information could I have that would help? Well, first I am among the very recent technologically trained Life Sciences workers, with the job seeker’s perspective. I might have only 1 year of job hunting experience, but in the current scenario, it would save current students a lot of time and effort if they would avoid the mistakes I have made during my job hunt. I have tips on how to reduce the downtime on hearing back from recruiters , and so on and so forth . I am a voracious reader when it comes to current industry and economic trends in the Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology industry, and I hope my blog posts in the future will highlight some of these.
Overall, what I hope to achieve is to give you a lowdown as to what my experiences are in Real Time as a job seeker. For example, I have interviewed for an Oncology based intern position for a Top 10 biotech company and for a consulting role at a Top 20 Healthcare consulting firm and enjoyed both those experiences (details in future posts). My experience in the various job summits I have attended (in person and virtual- like the Virtual Job Summit by Bio Careers) could be useful, as well as some wonderful new connections I made in the industry and the unlikely places I met them . I hope you keep yourself subscribed. I do have a lot to say.
